After weeks of disappointing outings I struck gold this afternoon. I was actually finishing up my walk with next to nothing new on my memory card and had decided to take a shot of the gulls who were standing on a frozen section of the Anticline Fishing Pond just to have something to post. As I approached the edge of the pond they all frantically took flight. My surprise turned to excitement when I looked up and saw a beautiful juvenile bald eagle swooping down over the pond. He (I’m not sure what its preferred pronouns are) was obviously interested in having a gull for dinner and spent quite a bit of time stalking the pond. I spent that same time shooting frame after frame of this mighty hunter. I hoped to catch a shot of the big bird making a strike on its prey but had no such luck – which means the Gulls’ luck was better than mine.
