We set out at 6:30 this morning – not really sure why we got the late start but it must have been Whisper’s fault. The sky was hazy once again but there was little to no cloud cover. I think the haze is still smoke from nearby wildfires. No wind today to clear it out. Temperature was a comfortable 60 degrees.

Since the sky was so clear I abandoned any hope of a decent landscape and went out this morning with the Nikon D5100 in hopes of getting some birds or critters. Frankly, there was not much going on at Lake Pueblo State Park this morning. I did spy a fly fisherman actually in the Arkansas River which is something I haven’t seen since the runoff began. The water still seems pretty high to me but it must be running a little slower because I also saw geese and ducks in the water.

I had to dig through the archives to find a photo to post today. I usually like to find an image for the same day in a prior year but apparently my luck on July second is not good at all. I finally settled for the shot below which was taken July 15, 2017 with my old Olympus E-1.

Sightings:
Birds: Starlings, Swallows, Cormorants, Canada Geese, Barn Swallow, Robin, Mourning Doves, Mallard Ducks, Kingbirds
