Gonna be a hot one today so I hit the trail early for another sunny tour of the park. The most exciting part of my walk this morning came at the site of the Cooper’s Hawk nest that I have been monitoring. Two young hawks were jumping from branch to branch through the shadowy leaves and looking around in amazement. One of them (pictured below) looked like he was trying to figure out what to do with his wings. I took a lot of shots but really only came up with this one success. I got more Owls today, too. Today’s featured image is what I think are a parent and child sunning themselves in the morning light. I’m pretty sure the one on the left is the same one I shot yesterday on this very same tree. The only other capture of note is the Mississippi Kite pictured here. This one hasn’t been hanging around the tree where I normally see it so I will keep an eye on this new location to see if it has moved.
