The stars of this morning’s walk were the juvenile Cooper’s Hawks that I have been stalking for the past couple of months. I saw three of the youngsters and am posting pictures of two of them. The featured image is of one of them working on devouring what looks like a smaller bird. I don’t know if this catch was his or if an adult had provided it but he knew what to do with it. The same bird is pictured below getting settled in for a meal. All three were pretty vocal (when not eating) and I got a nice shot of one calling out – probably for food delivery.
With the Spring Runoff subsiding Canada Geese are taking advantage of the reemerging sandbar islands in the Arkansas River at Lake Pueblo State Park, Colorado July 20, 2022
