Green Heron at Lake Pueblo State Park, Colorado

After several days of cloudy morning skies the Sun finally made an appearance today. I figured if the Sun could do it so could I. And I’m glad I did. The Cooper’s Hawk kids are still hanging around the area of their nest but continue expanding their range and flying now with great confidence. Today’s featured image is one of them blasting off from a high perch and below is another of the sibs perched with a look of concern on its face. Pictured here is what I believe to be a Green Heron – maybe a juvenile. This is my first one this year. On the critter front, I managed to spot a tiny little toad who was doing a pretty good job hiding in broad daylight.
