We were welcomed to LPSP this morning by cloudy skies in the East which filtered the sunshine to a great degree. With the 62 degree temperature (at 6:10) it was an excellent day for walking but not so good a day for photography.

I am changing the walking protocol that I have been following for the last 7 years to one that results in my taking two walks per outing while Whisper takes only one. What this means is that he and I take a shorter walk together and then I park him in the car and I do a longer solo tour. The little guy is getting older and is tuckering out sooner these days so this procedure allows us both to get out for some fun. This change also allows me to switch from my 55-200mm lens (when using the Nikon D5100) to the 55-300mm lens before I head out on my own. This longer lens is way too difficult to use with one hand so Whisper’s absence gives me that needed second hand for stability. For today’s walk this lens switcheroo allowed me to use the shorter lens to capture the Turkey shot above while the longer lens allowed me to capture the Grackle seen below.
