Environment:
Start Time: 11:00 AM Temperature: 69 degrees Sky: Increasingly threatening clouds with some Sun
It took a little while but the Sun finally decided to make an appearance before noon. Even with the temperature near 70 (F) the many clouds made walking pretty comfortable. The Arkansas River is still pretty high with only Cormorants, Geese and Mallards venturing out. I did see some people rafting and a couple of other small watercraft floated by. The Osprey weren’t fishing but I did get one shot of a Red-winged Blackbird flying low over the river. I also caught a glimpse of the back end of a Green Heron as he flew away. More wildflowers are showing up – thanks to our recent rains. Today’s featured image is a good clump of them – as yet unidentified – with a Cabbage Butterfly making a guest appearance. I also caught a shot of some Prairie Coneflower. The image below is another Kestrel looking down on his world.
