The Kestrel family (meaner but not as musical as the Partridge Family) were still on station this morning. The first picture below is the three young ones who mostly seem to stay perched and occasionally flap their wings. An adult would zoom in every now and then with food. Then once one of the juveniles claimed the delivery the adult would fly off for more – second picture below. The picture that should be seen between these pictures is today’s featured image, above. The adult was just arriving when it took a pretty hard hit from a Western Kingbird. Mom (or Dad) shook it off and finished the delivery. I have a lot of respect for that Kingbird blasting into a large group of Kestrels like that. I also managed to capture a Great Horned Owl pictured in the mini-gallery at the bottom of this post.
