Windy and warm pretty much describes the park this morning at 6:10. I knew it would be windy when I left the house but I was surprised by how strongly it was blowing at our favorite walking venue. Since the wind was coming primarily from the West it added a noticeable warming component to the 73 degree air temperature. Though the light was quite good it was generally uncomfortable overall. All of this being said, it should come as no surprise that I settled for just the shorter dog walking tour and called it quits after that. Whisper was happy.
The shortened duration for today’s walk allowed little time for wildlife spotting but that was not a real issue since I was, as yesterday, toting my Panasonic GX-85 with the Olympus 14-54mm in search of scenic views. The only difference in my set-up was that I selected Program (P) mode on the mode dial which is another selection that allows the camera to determine both shutter speed and F-stop. I chose this P mode over the iAuto mode that I tried yesterday was because that mode, for reasons lost to me, automatically selects Face Detection as the Auto-focus area which resulted in a number of yesterday’s shots being less than optimally sharp. Today I could switch the Auto-focus area to Center-point and got much better results as the image below attests.
Sightings:
Birds: Starlings, Swallows, Barn Swallow, Robin, Flicker, Kingbirds
