With a morning temperature in the mid-fifties and a predicted afternoon temperature in the high seventies I elected to hit the trail early. That old saying about the rewards to be gained by the early bird was verified today. I caught a Red-tailed Hawk on its morning flight, a Belted Kingfisher working the Arkansas River and a Downy Woodpecker performing a detailed tree inspection all on the first part of my walk. For the second half I got to spend a little time with an American Bald Eagle. Today’s featured image is a late Winter morning scene featuring Liberty Point towering over the Arkansas River while an American White Pelican gets ready for the day. I think this weather is going to hold until the weekend – I hope the birding holds up as well.
