American Robin Drying Out at Lake Pueblo State Park in Colorado

Another stretch of unpleasant weather has ended allowing me to get out to Lake Pueblo State Park to asses the situation. Things are looking good – trees are starting to bud and, even though it snowed yesterday, most of the snow had melted already and it was not as muddy on the trails as I thought it would be. Besides the budding trees another harbinger of Spring made it’s presence known – American Robins were out in force. One in particular (the three photos posted here) was having a bath in a snow melt puddle and seemed quite unbothered by my watching. The picture of him/her perched is an after-bath moment where it has it’s feathers fluffed out for quick drying.

Sightings:
Birds: Canada Geese, Gulls, Flicker, Buffleheads, Red-tailed Hawk, Blue Jays, Common Goldeneye, Mallards
Critters: None

Gear: Nikon D5100, 55-300mm
