Conditions were, again, too good to ignore this morning so I wolfed down my Cheerios and hit the trail early. It was pretty quiet out there. Not many fishermen in the river or hikers on the trail. Didn’t see a single bicycle. So it’s tough to explain why the birds were so stand-offish. Only one of my Cooper’s Hawk parents was on duty at the nest and it made a dive for the ground and tried to hide from me – today’s featured image. I got a brief glimpse of the back end of a Yellow-rumped Warbler and got a long shot of a group of Blue Jays who were involved in an intense discussion. The Bufflehead Drake (bottom of post) kind of surprised me since I haven’t seen any of them for a little while. He looked lonely.
