Environment:
Start Time: 8:55 AM Temperature: 43 degrees Sky: Cloud filtered sunshine with a little breeze.
Today’s walk started in bright sunshine with yours truly casting a crisp shadow as I prowled the park. The walk ended in some serious cloud cover with very little shadow casting at all. Even so, I managed to come home with some interesting shots. Today’s featured image (above) is one of the many Northern Flickers that I saw today though this one was the only one that wanted to be on the Internet. Posted below is a not G rated image of a couple of Red-tailed Hawks completing the most important duty in the nesting process. The Double-crested Cormorants are back in force and are already posted up on their favorite Arkansas River overlook. Below is a shot of a Pied-billed Grebe finishing off its breakfast – s/he would not turn toward me to allow for a better shot. All in all, a pretty good outing. Just a note that I have decided to name the American White Pelican who has adopted the Arkansas River as its home – Pete.
