Cooper's Hawk at Lake Pueblo State Park, Colorado

The light this morning can only be described as pathetic. Mostly cloudy conditions lead to blown out skies when you have to expose for the shadowy figures presented by perching birds. Still it was worth the trip out today. Today’s featured image is a tough little bird to shoot (and this guy made me work for it) a Black-capped Chickadee. The Osprey were very active early in the walk but settled down quickly – I think there was some courting going on but nothing seemed to come of it. I did spot what is probably a Cooper’s Hawk hidden in the branches of a Cottonwood. Posted is the best angle I could get. I also stumbled upon two Wood Ducks checking out the trees for a nesting site – Spring for sure. Speaking of Spring, I saw my first Green-winged Teal cruising the Arkansas River.
