Common Stork's-bill at Lake Pueblo State Park, Colorado

The high, thin clouds that were subduing the sunlight at the start of today’s outing were completely burned off by the end of my walk. This being a Holiday Weekend I was surprised by how few people were out enjoying the park. The Arkansas River is settling down but the Canada Geese parents are still keeping their young on dry land – two such youngsters are today’s featured image. I have been hoping to see a new fawn or two but so far I’ve just seen mostly doe like the one pictured below. Does she look pregnant to you? The wild flowers posted here are what Google tells me are Common Stork’s-bill. They are tiny little blooms.

Birds: Wood Ducks, Mallards, Canada Geese, Osprey, American Robins, European Starlings, Double-crested Cormorant, Western Kingbirds, Eastern Kingbirds, Mourning Doves, Bullock’s Orioles, House Wren, Red-tailed Hawk, Redheaded Woodpecker
Critters: Beetle, Wood Louse, Mule Deer, Tree Squirrel
