Red-tailed Hawk at Lake Pueblo State Park, Colorado

Happy Memorial Day! I guess I was out on the trail early enough to avoid the throngs of Summer fun seekers because things were pretty quiet once again. The Arkansas River remains quite high which is keeping most birds and most human fishermen well away. Only a few Canada Geese were braving the waters along with a couple of Common Mergansers who really struggled to get from one side of the river to the other. Why did they cross the river? Who knows? The Red-tailed Hawk was perched, still patiently awaiting the arrival of The Stork. Not sure how that works out in the bird world. Today’s featured image is a couple of grounded Canada Goose goslings. They grow up so quickly! And there was one crazy person flying a Powered Parachute all around the park.
