Despite the chilly temperature I made it out for a walk early this morning. All in all it was an interesting walk. There was a pretty good selection of birds many of whom seemed willing to reward me for abandoning my toasty bed. The Great Blue Heron pictured here is one of three that I saw. Two in trees and one on the fishing pond. The real excitement actually occurred as I was driving home from my walk. Just as I rounded the bend where Highway 96 kind of becomes Thatcher Avenue I saw a large group of Pronghorn Antelope in a field South of the road. They looked like a bunch of guys who had just awakened from a rough night and did not seem to know where they were or how they got there. My coming to an abrupt stop to shoot the featured image through my car window did not really help. After a few dangerous crossings of the highway they eventually headed out into the prairie. This is the closest I have ever been to wild antelope and it sent me home with a big smile on my face!
