Deciding to brave the morning cold and head out for a walk turned out to be the right choice. I saw two Great Blue Herons on the Arkansas River one of which landed a nice fish as well as landing today’s featured image spot. The Western Grebe that was resting on the fishing pond for the last two weeks seems to have moved on but it was replaced this morning with a little Pied-billed Grebe who seemed quite at home. I had three sightings of Red-tailed Hawks but I can’t really say if they were all different birds. Pictured here is one that took great delight in making me dizzy by circling over me.
