Great Horned Owl at Lake Pueblo State Park, Colorado

Cold mornings mean afternoon walks. I think that is one of Newton’s Laws. I’m glad I went out, too. Pictured here are two angles of the same sleepy owl. The featured image is a different owl – maybe a male – that I found a little later on in the tour. This guy was basking in the setting sunshine and looked ready to get busy controlling the rodent population at the park. I was surprised to see two Double Crested Cormorants still on station at the Gathering Tree.
