Autumn Afternoon Scenic at Lake Pueblo State Park, Colorado

Gloomy skies and a chilly temperature kept me home this morning. Clear sunny skies and much warmer air brought me out to Lake Pueblo State Park for a late afternoon tour. I was delighted to see that yesterday’s wind had not managed to strip all of the bright Autumn leaves from the trees which positively lit up in the early evening light. Today’s featured image is an example shot of the Anticline Fishing Pond. Very colorful! Even the birds seemed to be enjoying the evening and I got to spend a little time with two Great Horned Owls and I got to watch a Great Blue Heron actively (but without success) fish on the Arkansas River. Plus there were a ton of Mule Deer coming out for a night of heavy grazing. Tonight is supposed to be another cold one so tomorrow morning I might just sleep in….

Sightings:
Birds: Mallards, Ring-billed Gulls, American Robins, Starlings, White-crowned Sparrows, Great Blue Heron, Northern Flicker, Sparrows, Great Horned Owls, Blue Jays, Dark-eyed Juncos
Critters: Grasshoppers, Mule Deer

Gear: Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II, Panasonic Lumix 100-300mm, LG L455DL Phone
