Snowy Egret at Belmar Park Lakewood, Colorado

Lately I’ve been on special assignment pet-sitting in Lakewood, Colorado. Luckily, I’m staying very close to Belmar Park. This morning I struck it rich with quite a few captures that would be tough to pull off at LPSP. The featured image (above) is a Black-crowned Night Heron who was extremely mellow and allowed me to take many photos. I’ve only seen one of these at Lake Pueblo. There were two or three Snowy Egrets working in the lake as well as lots of Red-eared Slider turtles. The Anticline Fishing Pond at Lake Pueblo used to have Sliders many years back but have since vanished. At the bottom of this post is a nice portrait of a Red-shouldered Hawk who was also pretty patient with me.

Sightings:
Birds: Mallards, Gulls,Mourning Dove, Black-crowned Night Heron, American Robins, Say’s Phoebe, Red-shouldered Hawk, Yellow Warbler, Magpie, Barn Swallows, Red-winged Blackbirds, Snowy Egrets
Critters: Cabbage White Butterfly, Tree Squirrel, Red-eared Sliders

Gear: Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II, Tokina 400mm
