Environment:
Start Time: 7:10 AM Temperature: 54 degrees Sky: Sunshine.
Sunrise is still the best time to visit the Rock Canyon area at Lake Pueblo State Park. The bird activity is still a little low but I am attributing that to what could be considered the changing of the guard. The Summer birds are thinning out and I am expecting the Autumn/Winter crew to start showing up soon. The Double Crested Cormorants are still here and seem to be enjoying the time on the Arkansas River. Pictured here is one of them scanning the water from its perch on a fallen log. Just below is a Redheaded Woodpecker which I believe to be a juvenile but could be a female. Featured is an American Kestrel who had just landed on its high perch and was getting everything adjusted just right.
