July 23, 2023

Environment:Start Time: 6:45 AM Temperature: 64 degrees Sky: Sun with a few clouds in the western sky. Quite pleasant once again this morning thanks to a gentle breeze offering some temperature moderation. Even so you could tell that it was going to be a hot one today. The only birds I photographed today were (surprise) the Osprey family in what I have started calling the River Bend Nest. I was really surprised to see all three kids present. There were a lot of Osprey gliding high in the sky, probably other youngsters learning the secrets of flight. Otherwise I resorted…

Environment:Start Time: 6:30 AM Temperature: 51 degrees Sky: Mostly sunshine. Things remain on the mellow side at Lake Pueblo State Park. The high water on the Arkansas River seems to have a calming effect. Below is a scenic shot that kind of sums up the morning. Great conditions but not a lot of motivation. The two goslings featured up top were out with a pretty good gathering of their kind. Three sets of adults – one set with four kiddos and each of the other two with only one. We were all on a narrow stretch of the trail and…

Environment:Start Time: 3:05 PM Temperature: 49 degrees Sky: Sunshine and clouds. A later afternoon outing found me on the South bank of the Arkansas River today. I switch banks on afternoon walks since that puts the Sun at my back as I walk along the river. What I don’t like is that there isn’t a good loop to walk so I have to travel the same country out and back which bothers me for some reason. Even so, I got some interesting shots in both directions. For one thing I got a new bird. Posted below is a Mountain Pipet…

December 09, 2021 Re-post

I continue to make progress recovery-wise. I think I am virus clear buy am remaining in isolation for safety’s sake. Here is a look back at what was happening last year. Environment:Start Time: 9:05 AM Temperature: 46 degrees Sky: Sunshine with few clouds. Pleasantly warm temperature lured me back to the morning shift and my regular route today. A pretty nice selection of avian subjects were around though not many who were interested in being posted on the Internet today. Today’s featured image (above) is a Killdeer who I surprised on the river bank before he could hide. Below is…

December 02, 2021Re-post

Here is another blast from the past while I recuperate. Environment:Start Time: 8:35 AM Temperature: 48 degrees Sky: Sunshine with light breeze. December is starting out on the warm side. I mean walking along the river in a T-shirt is not what you would expect. Not complaining though. Activity is picking up, too. There were a lot of American Robins darting in and out of the trees along the Arkansas. I think this was a group of migrants stopping for a rest. They were popping down to the water for some pretty long sips of water as pictured below. I…
