Environment:Start Time: 8:10 AM Temperature: 49 degrees Sky: Bright sunshine with light breeze. The only bird that came close to cooperating with my photographic intentions was a Common Grackle that I managed to get out of focus. Even though I saw quite a few birds I have no images to prove it. One thing to note – I saw my first Dark-eyed Junco of the season today. As far as images to post – I have a Painted Lady butterfly featured. I’m closing with what my Google searching seems to indicate is a Desert Caterpillar. At least I got these…

August 04, 2022

Environment:Start Time: 6:40 AM Temperature: 64 degrees Sky: Sunny. Not a lot going on this morning at Lake Pueblo State Park though the Arkansas River’s falling water level is attracting more fishermen. There was a lot of bird activity but very few volunteers for Internet fame. I accidentally flushed out a pair of twin fawns and got a decent shot of one of them. Today’s featured image is also another critter – a Monarch Butterfly sampling one of the Wild Sunflowers that dot the park. The only birds that I managed (with some effort) to capture are in the mini-gallery…

September 29, 2021

Environment:Start Time: 8:00 AM Temperature: 60 degrees Sky: Cloud filtered sunshine and little breeze again. Check out last year’s walk on this day! Did I say not much was happening at Lake Pueblo State Park yesterday? I guess I misspoke. Compared to today, yesterday was an absolute festival. I know the sightings box (below) shows a number of birds out but technically most of those sightings should be referred to as nano-sightings since I only saw the birds in passing. The only bird I captured was a Sharp-shinned Hawk (posted) who was deep in the leaves making the shot rather…
