Not many birds out and those I saw were having difficulty getting around in the wind. I, too, cut my outing a little short to get out of the wind. Environment:Start Time: 8:40 AM Temperature: 45 degrees Sky: Sunny, light breeze A very pleasant morning greeted me upon arrival at Lake Pueblo State Park. Still a lot of nesting activity going on – especially the Starlings and the Osprey. It looks like a pair of Osprey are going to take up residence in last year’s new nest right next to the Swim Beach. This was the kind of breeze that would feel great on a September afternoon but is not welcome on an April morning. It turned out that putting up with the cooler weather paid off. I like these early starts as it usually gives me a chance to spot Wild Turkeys before they hunker down for the day. Also I was trying to beat the predicted cloudy/windy conditions expected later today. Plenty of birds out doing bird stuff. Weather predictions are for record April heat today and gusty winds. The most interesting bird activity happened right at the start of my walk.
