Environment:Start Time: 6:50 AM Temperature: 66 degrees Sky: Sunshine few clouds Another very quiet day at the park. I could literally hear crickets chirping in the brush. Still a pleasant day for a walk though toward the end it was getting a little warm. Really only two lucky breaks this morning. Number one – today’s featured image of an Osprey leaping into flight (and in focus). The other break was capturing the Sharp-shinned Hawk posted below. I think this might be a juvenile because he was hopping around looking at things as though for the first time. I took quite…

Environment:Start Time: 6:50 AM Temperature: 64 degrees Sky: Sunshine, light haze few clouds I was greeted upon my arrival at Lake Pueblo State Park this morning with silence. It was a little humid and the relative lack of wildfire haze really allowed the Sun’s radiant heat to bear down. Maybe this heat was keeping everyone subdued. Even though I did see a nice variety of birds I only managed a portraits and none were all that good. Today’s featured…

Environment:Start Time: 6:55 AM Temperature: 61 degrees Sky: Wildfire haze filtered sunshine with a few clouds More fuzzy light and oppressive humidity (by Colorado standards) made for an okay outing today. Not too much bird activity on the walk with the best two shots posted here – an American Bushtit in a rare moment of inactivity and a Great Blue Heron (below) staring into the morning Sun. There was some Osprey activity but none of them were fishing – at least not while I was watching. The real excitement of the day happened after I had finished my normal walk….
