Environment:Start Time: 8:05 AM Temperature: 58 degrees Sky: Sunshine. Not a very busy Monday morning out on the trail today. With the Osprey population seemingly on the decline I am seeing Great Blue Herons and Belted Kingfishers more often. Is there a connection? Red-winged Blackbirds were very active working on the dead heads of the Wild Sunflowers with great zeal. Today’s featured image is of a male Blackbird taking a quick break from the seeds (or bugs?) that seem so in demand. I captured one of the few Osprey I saw today (below) perched high up – devouring its catch….

Environment:Start Time: 8:10 AM Temperature: 54 degrees Sky: Mostly sunshine. Once again I managed to catch sight of a good number of birds without capturing many of them on my memory card. Everyone was either keeping their distance or heading off to an important appointment. All except for the Great Blue Heron in the featured spot above. This one was just chilling on a mid-river rock without a care in the world while fish were jumping up all around. Guess s/he was full. The blooming Rabbitbrush were joined today by some blooming Machaeranthera (I hope) with a nice complementary shade…
