Even though a lot of the Cottonwood leaves are past their prime, the Autumn Color in Rock Canyon (especially at sunrise) is still pretty spectacular as demonstrated by today’s featured image. The Winter Ducks are starting to show up. Pictured below is a Gadwall that flew by me while I was trying to locate a Belted Kingfisher and I did manage to see some Buffleheads in the area that used to be known as the Swim Beach. They were swimming. I also saw the two stubborn juvenile Ospreys (one pictured here) who just can’t find it in them to leave home. Today was a good Owl day as well. Two Great Horned Owls, whose conversation attracted me to their location, were just settling in for the day. I was only able to capture one of them with my camera (post bottom) but I’m pretty happy with the way this shot came out.
