Environment:
Start Time: 8:15 AM Temperature: 56 degrees Sky: Sunny, Wildfire Haze, Light Breeze
What would have been another fabulous walking day was marred by a very noticeable helping of wildfire haze. Happily there was no odor that I could perceive but the light was rather muted. Despite the conditions I did manage to get a couple of bird shots (below) and also a Summer scenic of the Arkansas River (Above.) If you happened to have read my last post you will remember that I had lamented the fact that I had yet to get a decent shot of a Belted Kingfisher in flight. I got a chance today and captured one diving into the Arkansas river. Sadly I didn’t get the shutter speed I thought I was going to get (camera set to Aperture Priority with Auto ISO ) and the image is not just a little blurry. It is kind of a nice action shot and if you have me around to tell you it is a Belted Kingfisher then you are all set. My other bird photo is that of a Wilson’s Warbler which I have been trying to get a photo of for a very long time. These birds usually end up being classified by me as “flitty” birds because they just don’t sit still for very long. Today’s “success” is not that great of an image but it is good enough to allow me to establish an ID.
