Morning fog kept me waiting today but finally this bright shiny orb burned through and I decided to try another walk. There was a lot of chatter all around me as I walked but it was confined to the trees and prairie with no one coming out to sing for a photo. The Swallows were swarming the Arkansas River again today and were still tough to photograph. I tried but failed. Not much else was going on in the river – only a few Mallards and one Gadwall hen (today’s featured image.) A small family of Geese were cruising around. This family consisted of two adults and only a single gosling. I guess they get a break on the College fund this year. The only other item of interest was high in the air where a Red-tailed Hawk and a Turkey Vulture were circling. I am not sure if this was some sort of confrontation or just two bird buddies enjoying the wind. The picture of this event is posted below mostly because I am happy with getting both participants in one frame.
