Solitary Sandpiper at Lake Pueblo State Park, Colorado

Another very clear day for me and my shadow to enjoy a walk by the Arkansas River. My avian friends continued playing hard to get. I still managed to come away with some captures. There were a couple of Great Horned Owls perched in the fire damaged area by the Osprey Picnic Area one of whom (I believe a female) is today’s featured image. Both of them are pictured below. I also got the best shot yet of what I believe to be a Solitary Sandpiper but what could also be a variety of a Yellowlegs. I wish they wore labels.

Sightings:
Birds: Mallards, Osprey, Double Crested Cormorants, Canada Geese, Mourning Doves, Common Grackles, Starlings, Kingbirds, Red-winged Blackbirds, Belted Kingfisher, Solitary Sandpiper, Great Horned Owls, Northern Flicker, Black-capped Chickadee, Redheaded Woodpeckers, Barn Swallow
Critters: Cabbage Butterfly, Prairie Dogs, Tree Squirrel, Mule Deer

Gear: Nikon D5600, 55-300mm
