Great Blue Heron at Lake Pueblo State Park, Colorado

Wonderfully brisk air welcomed me to Lake Pueblo State Park this morning. Ideal walking conditions. Once again the birdies were playing hard to get. Those showing themselves at all were just the usual suspects – no one exotic. I’m still very glad I was out there today with my camera because I finally captured an image that I have long been wanting. Today’s featured image (above) is that of an Osprey flying off while shaking off the water from its feathers after making a strike in the Anticline Fishing Pond. Well, this isn’t exactly the image I’m hoping to capture – I still want to get The Shake with the bird carrying a fish (I’m sure this Osprey agrees with that) but this is progress. Not an award winning photo by any means but it is still pretty cool.
