American Bald Eagle at Lake Pueblo State Park, Colorado

Forecasts of a warmish afternoon made me decide to take a chance on a morning walk today. This turned out to be a pretty good decision. Apparently I was not alone in this course of action as the park and the Arkansas River were pretty busy. Today’s featured image shows just how busy the river was with humans and pelicans competing for space. The eagles are still haunting the fishing pond though no one was in the mood to dazzle me with a display of fishing prowess. Still, this turned out to be a good morning to photograph birds in flight – demonstrated with the three photos posted below.

Sightings:
Birds: Red-breasted Merganser, Gulls, Canada Geese, American Bald Eagles, American Kestrel, American White Pelican, Pied-billed Grebe, Goldeneye, Buffleheads, American Coot, Red-tailed Hawk, Sparrows, Belted Kingfisher
Critters: Tree Squirrel, Mule Deer

Gear: Nikon D5600, 55-200mm
