Chilly again this morning – but sunny, too. I’m glad I decided to keep my mittens in the car – they came in handy. I guess a lot of the birds didn’t have mittens and, as a result, were keeping a low profile. I saw no Osprey so I’m sure they are all on their way to Costa Rica. Today’s featured image is a female Red-winged Blackbird possibly looking for mittens – or bugs. I caught another group of Mule Deer (below) crossing the Arkansas River which made me wonder what was so great on the other side that it merited getting wet on such a crisp morning. Pictured here is an American Bushtit who paused for a split-second in its busy morning schedule. And the sad news is saved for last – the injured Osprey from last week did not survive despite the best efforts of the Raptor Center.
Osprey Update
The injured Osprey that was recently rescued by The Raptor Center has not survived her injuries. Center staff reports that she passed away on October 06, 2022. She will be missed.
