Today’s tour of Lake Pueblo State Park was a mixed bag of great light, sparse bird presence and biting breezes. Mule Deer did their best to make up for the issues – they were everywhere. And my only bird capture was a lucky break and is today’s featured image. I spotted a Belted Kingfisher – on my side of the river – who was perched perfectly in the light of the setting Sun. I think the sunlight prevented it from noticing me and allowed me to get kind of close. Along with blinding the bird the low light also provided drama in the shot along with the Autumn leaves in the background. This shot made the whole trip worthwhile.
