Arrived at a little after 6 this morning as the sun was trying to gain a foothold through some pesky clouds. Temperature in the mid-50 range with no breeze.
Once again our arrival was greeted with more aerial fishing acrobatics by a number of Osprey over the fishing pond. In fact just as I drove up one of the birds rose off the water with a good sized fish in hand and flew right over me. I guess he knew there was no chance of me taking a picture at that point.

One other interesting sighting today was of a Red-tailed hawk sitting in a tree well off the trail (hence the low quality photo.) In fact he was so far off I probably wouldn’t have even spotted him if it hadn’t been for the commotion being raised by a number of Blue Jays who were apparently not happy with the bigger bird’s presence. You can kind of see them in the photo if you look closely. And they weren’t just complaining, I saw several of the Jays buzz very close to the hawk’s head. Not too long after this shot was taken the harassment seems to have had its desired effect and the hawk abandoned his perch and headed South across the Arkansas River.
