Environment:

Way too cold this morning to even consider taking a stroll by the river. But the great conditions this afternoon made up for it big time. I spent quite a bit of time with today’s featured Great Horned Owl. It played hard to get but I stayed with it and got some good captures and I shot some video which I will check out tomorrow. I caught one of the Red-tailed Hawks (the mom?) hanging out near the nest, I assume, waiting for things to hatch. The Osprey were all over the place – flying, nesting and chirping. I didn’t see any fishing, though. I even saw some Double Crested Cormorants afloat on the Arkansas River but they haven’t yet seemed to have picked out this year’s hang-out tree. The Osprey pictured below is perched on last year’s tree. I’m sure they can work something out.
