Environment:
Start Time: 6:55 AM Temperature: 50 degrees Sky: Sunshine with light wildfire haze.

Another break in this string of rainy weather allowed me back out out on the trail this morning. Sky was pretty clear with only a hint of Canadian wildfire smoke. Even so the air was pleasantly fragrant. Once again, most of the birds were keeping their distance if they showed themselves at all. The Arkansas River is running very high and fast; so much so that I saw no birds at all out on the water. The little gosling pictured her had to hunker down on the river bank and wait for slower water. Also pictured here is what I assume is the female Red-tailed Hawk who seems a little bored and crabby waiting for the young ones to sprout. Today’s featured image is a very anxious Osprey who couldn’t get comfortable enough to actually eat the fish it had recently caught. I didn’t see any challengers in sight but eventually the bird took its catch further downriver.
