The tree cavity that I earlier this Spring thought was a Kestrel nest site but later decided wasn’t a Kestrel nest site due to lack of any type of activity proved this morning to actually be a Kestrel nest site. Today’s featured image is one of the adults posed just after delivering some grub (or maybe a Grub) to the nest’s occupant. Very exciting – I will try for some video soon. The other active nest (known to me) still has the young Red-tailed Hawk hanging out. Today it did not seem to be bigger. No Cooper’s Hawks to gossip about today. Pictured her is what I believe to be a juvenile Double Crested Cormorant being quite confident in its perch high over the Arkansas River. And another Osprey teased me with a dramatic display of hovering that resulted in nothing. At the very bottom of this post is one of the Red-tailed Hawk parents who flew by after loudly scolding me. Why the I got the tongue lashing, I do not know – I was not near the nest.
