Back into my morning routine, I hope. An interesting walk ensued, with a bit of nest action and fancy flying. First off, two of the American Kestrel youngsters are qualified fledglings. I thought there was only one baby in the nest but I caught these two above (in the featured image) sitting outside in the morning sunshine. I could just barely make out another still in the nest – who knows, there may be more. Then further down the trail I spotted one of the adult Red-tailed Hawks in the nest with its single occupant. Perhaps the adult was giving junior The Talk. Wrapping up the walk I caught a Great Blue Heron giving the Arkansas River a try and I watched a couple of Osprey try their luck – unsuccessfully – at catching breakfast. A very good walk.
