American Kestrel at Lake Pueblo State Park, Colorado

Except for today’s featured image (Great Blue Heron in flight – above) today’s post features juvenile examples of the various birds that flap around Lake Pueblo State Park in the summertime. The sidebar picture is one of the American Kestrel fledglings who is manning the treetop usually occupied by mom or dad. No other Kestrels were visible. At the very bottom of this post is a shot of one of the State sponsored nest boxes that the Ospreys seem to enjoy. Yesterday I saw two little heads poking up so things seem to be going well over there. The adult Red-tail Hawk was on station this morning but I was not able to see if the little one was in the nest or if it is branching out as well. I’ve pretty much given up on the Cooper’s Hawk nest as there is not any activity happening there.
