Osprey at Lake Pueblo State Park, Colorado

I think most of this year’s baby birds are well on their way to independence. Today’s featured image is (I think) a juvenile Bullock’s Oriole who was navigating the tree branches like a pro. The two Osprey nests pictured here have rather substantial looking juveniles present. I am not sure if they are flying yet but they look ready to me. The Red-tailed Hawk nest is vacant now. The only duck I saw is pictured bottom-post – a Common Merganser who seemed reluctant to enter the Arkansas River even though the water level is coming down.
