I think most of this year’s baby birds are well on their way to independence. Today’s featured image is (I think) a juvenile Bullock’s Oriole who was navigating the tree branches like a pro. The two Osprey nests pictured here have rather substantial looking juveniles present. I am not sure if they are flying yet but they look ready to me. The Red-tailed Hawk nest is vacant now. The only duck I saw is pictured bottom-post – a Common Merganser who seemed reluctant to enter the Arkansas River even though the water level is coming down.

Birds: Canada Geese, Common Merganser, Double Crested Cormorants, Mourning Doves, Kingbirds (E&W), Bullock’s Oriole, American Robins, Ospreys, Common Grackles, Barn Swallows, possible Killdeer, Northern Flickers, Redheaded Woodpecker, Great Blue Herons
Critters: Mule Deer, Cabbage White Butterflies, mosquitoes, Grasshoppers, Prairie Dog
