Bright sunshine lured me back out to Lake Pueblo State Park this morning. Bird action is still on the lackluster side. For a featured shot today I am posting a landscape like photo of a Mule Deer buck making an early morning crossing of the Arkansas River. The background haze in the shot is a combination of humidity and wildfire smoke. The River Bend Osprey nest is still playing host to three juveniles. I missed (by about 40 seconds) the arrival of an adult with a large fish which put all the nest occupants in a heads down position – so no decent photos. Pictured here is a Mule Deer doe coming down the Rock Canyon face. I also captured a dragonfly style bug that Google identifies as a Halloween Pennant. I guess the name comes from the orange and black coloring but who knows. I did see an adult Redheaded Woodpecker but before I could get the camera to my eye a Western Kingbird chased it away. Those Western Kingbirds are territorial SOBs (Son of Bird). Post bottom is an adult Osprey who drying off from a failed fishing dive. It wasn’t happy to be photographed.
