Today’s trip was a little different than normal. I went out specifically to try a new technique for shooting birds in flight (BIF) and, as can be seen, I mostly came home with birds on perch (BOP). No matter, the conditions were perfect with great light and little haze. The Osprey were very busy flying all around. There was this one tree which was being guarded by some Western Kingbirds. A couple of Ospreys (one pictured here) were taking great delight in circling close to this tree and getting the Kingbirds to attack them. It seemed like a game. Featured (above) is a nice portrait of the juvenile Redheaded Woodpecker with one of its parents posted at the bottom. Below is a pretty good shot of an American Goldfinch.
