After five days of really cloudy, crappy mornings the weather finally broke in my favor and I made it out to Lake Pueblo State Park for a walk along the Arkansas River. Said river provided the subject material for all of today’s images. I’ll admit that the Great Blue Heron pictured here was captured on September 10th but I did see one, possibly the same one, today. There were a couple of Common Sandpipers working on the river but not allowing me to get at all close. Today’s featured image is a not so great picture of a Magpie who was getting a sip of Arkansas River water while not making any effort to pose for me. This bird was surprisingly colorful. The Osprey at the bottom of this post was perched over the river scouting for its next meal.

Critters: Cabbage White Butterflies, Prairie Dogs, Grasshoppers, Mule Deer, Tree Squirrel, millions of flying bugs
