Great Blue Heron at Lake Pueblo State Park, Colorado

It was actually kind of a cool start this morning on the first full day of Autumn. Weather forecasters still say the next week will see temperatures in the eighties. I’m sure it will cool off again in my lifetime. I don’t know if it was the “cold” or what but the birds were kind of scarce. Today’s featured image is a pair of Osprey who were keeping an eye on the Arkansas River, though, apparently not for fishing. Two other fishermen made appearances – the Great Blue Heron pictured here with all but its beak in the shade and the female Belted Kingfisher who just couldn’t seem to find a snack. I saw (but couldn’t photograph) my first Tarantula of this years “migration” – he was walking across the road as I drove out. To top things off I have a scenic shot of the Arkansas River complete with another Heron.
