An oddly mild day delivered up a couple of surprises for today’s outing. Featured is a Great Horned Owl asleep in a tree that has been a favorite spot (for owls) for the last Fall and Winter. It may have gotten some use over the Summer but the leaves made it too tough to tell. Center post I am amazed to present two pictures of the same Osprey who was actively hunting over the Anticline Fishing Pond. What he (?) is doing here is a mystery. He should be down along the Gulf of Mexico wearing an Osprey Sombrero and sipping on a Sea Bass Margarita. To wrap things up I’m closing with the best shot of a Canyon Towhee I’ve ever gotten. This bird was not as active as the Rufous-sided Towhee that I was unable to photograph just a few minutes earlier. Overall – not a bad day.
