I’m beginning to see exactly who is in charge at Lake Pueblo State Park. This morning I saw several Ospreys, a Red-tailed Hawk and a Cooper’s Hawk all being mercilessly harassed by Western Kingbirds. Today’s featured image is just one example. This Red-tailed Hawk is one of the adults keeping watch over the baby hawk in the nearby nest. She (?) was not happy with the Kingbirds but they (the one in the picture and a couple of buddies) eventually drove her from her perch. Of course, she has to return sooner or later. Also out and about today was the American Kestrel (possible juvenile) pictured here – looking like it was a rough night. I’m still trying my hand at shooting swallows in flight – I’m posting a lucky shot below.
