Great Horned Owl at Lake Pueblo State Park, Colorado

There might have been a little haze out this morning but the Sun was struggling more with a pesky cloud group that refused to burn off. There were no real surprises when it came to my choice of subjects – pretty much the same old gang. One thing that I did notice was that the fledged Ospreys were venturing much further from the nest and were carefully watching their parents working the Arkansas River for prey. Below is a long shot of an adult making its entrance into the river. I found two of my favorite owls back in their tree. I hope I am their favorite Photographer. And I saw a Mule Deer Doe out with her youngster. I have not seen any twins so far this year. Featured is a juvenile Cooper’s Hawk who was talking up a storm up in the trees. I have a feeling he (?) was calling out for mom to bring something to eat. Mom is probably trying to encourage a little self reliance on the youngster.
