My juvenile Red-tailed Hawk buddy gets the featured spot this morning – mostly due to its stubbornness in demanding food. It seemed to be looking (and calling) for Mom or Dad to show up with some grub. I ran into another youngster while taking a bit of a different route this morning. Here in center post is what I took to be swallow’s nests under the Juniper Road bridge over the Arkansas River. They could have been swallow’s nests at one time but the only birds I saw using them today were (Google says) Say’s Phoebes. I saw an adult come in a couple of times to check on a nestling. I did a little research and found out that Phoebes often squat in nests built by other birds. Keeping with the baby bird theme I am closing the post with a shot of a juvenile Osprey still hanging out in its nest.
